After the success of his solo album Idantitâ, released in 2022, the Fribourg pianist continues to reshape his folklore, this time proposing a revised version in which he invites other musicians to mingle with this identity, to break down barriers even further and propose a musical crossover that multiplies imaginary potentials. This colourful project in chamber music format brings together artists with different influences: violinist Baiju Bhatt, singer Claire Huguenin, guitarist Louis Matute, cellist Lucie Gockel and euphonist Raphael Rossé.

&quot;Omri Mor turns out to be a very talented pianist with an interesting, crystal-clear style that combines Keith Jarrett-like trills, sleepy Erik Satie chords and the swing of Bill Evans,&quot; writes The Free Jazz Collective about the pianist, composer and arranger. His musical influences range from classical and jazz to Arabic-Andalusian music. After touring with bassist Avishai Cohen and releasing his debut album &quot;It&#x27;s About Time!&quot; (naïve-believe, 2018), he comes to Moods with the trio Assala: a hypnotic journey through Arabic-Andalusian sound worlds. He is accompanied by the congenial Karim Ziad on drums and Mehdi Nassouli on gimbri.

A young Jazz talent from Israel: Guy Mintus is only in his mid-twenties but has already played with greats such as Trilok Gurtu, Jon Hendricks and Arturo O’Farrill, won the «ASCAP’s Young Jazz Composer Award» and was awarded the public’s prize in the Montreux Jazz Festival’s “solo piano” competition category. His trio’s debut album, «A Home in Between», was recommended as a listening tip by Downbeat magazine. His music demonstrates a very individual style: he blends elements of Stride-Piano, Osmanian Makams, and Indian rhythms with counterpoint à la Bach, Spanish Flamenco and Jewish melodies. Wonderful dialogues between two outstanding instrumentalists and improvisers: in the Downtown New York scene, the world-known clarinetist Don Byron constantly tried out new mix ratios between Jazz-Tradition, Classical and Klezmer. Together with the Cuban pianist Aruán Ortiz, whose solo album «Cub(an)isme» received a rare five-star review from the American Jazz magazine «Downbeat», they form a top-class duo. The program features own compositions and standards, Afro-Cuban Swing, Modern Jazz and awareness of tradition. In order to illustrate these ideas, the materials used are often very rough, yet not without depth. Through the appropriation of the compositional ideas, the musicians attempt time and again to newly compose the pieces, both structurally and tonally. Pianist Colin Vallon joins forces with two of Europe’s most prominent and original musicians: Matthieu Michel, whose unmistakable sound on the trumpet could by itself be the definition of beauty, and drums wizard Jorge Rossy, one of the most influential musicians today. The repertoire oscillates between free improvisation, own compositions, and older gems by Don Cherry, Thelonious Monk and Gabriel Fauré, amongst others.

Omer Klein Solo Show 1

Omer Klein is a fascinating pianist. His playing moves between apparently disparate worlds, diverse structures and dynamics. Omer Klein was born in Israel in 1982, he absolved his jazz musical education in the USA. He studied in Boston under Danilo Perez and later under Fred Hersch and in the Noughties became a prominent musician on the New York jazz scene. Thus far Omer Klein has recorded seven albums, amongst them also «Rockets On The Balcony», which appeared on John Zorn’s Tzadik label. A summit meeting of two Cuban musical greats: both nominated for a Grammy, the musicians Alfredo Rodríguez and Pedrito Martinez discovered their passion for playing together as a duo in 2012 during the recording of Alfredo’s album, «The Invasion Parade». Now the two Cubans present their first duo album, «Duologue» (2019). Singer and percussionist Martinez, whose music school was the street, is a master of Afro-Cuban folk music and the Batá drum, which he ably demonstrated in collaboration with Sting, Paul Simon and Wynton Marsalis, amongst others. In contrast to Martinez, Rodríguez studied at the Havana Music School, where his work was influenced by Bach, Strawinsky and Cuban Jazz. He is one of the most impressive exponents of New Cuban Jazz, totally following in the tracks of pioneers such as Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and is the Artistic Director of the Global Gumbo Project, which was founded by Quincy Jones. Shai Maestro began his career in the band of bassist Avishai Cohen, before he founded his own trio in 2011. Through the years the pianist has found his very own sound: in Maestro&#x27;s compositions, Jazz harmonies are blended with structures from Classical music, elements of Pop and traditional Israeli music into something of utter tonal beauty. His fifth album, «The Dream Thief» (ECM), encourages us to dive into a world in which emotions, boundless enthusiasm and dynamic playing all find their place.

From Snarky Puppy to solo star: Bill Laurance is the founding member and keyboarder of Snarky Puppy, the band that was like no other line-up so successful with fusion-jazz. In the past two years, Snarky Puppy have acquired millions of Youtube clicks, a Grammy and numerous other awards. And Bill Laurance is also impressive with his solo project, which is now underway as a quartet. Following the release of the albums «Flint» (2014), «Swift» (2015) and «Aftersun» (2016), Laurance fulfilled a lifelong dream with his live album «Live At Union Chapel». Always close to jazz, however under the influence of 70&#x27;s fusion and classic rock from the same time, always highly musical, always open for new diversions, always with boundless enthusiasm for playing between genres.
