Carte Blanche Anna Frey

She is a rapper, musician, theatre director and has just published her first volume of poetry, "So eine ist sie", in the spring of 2023: Anna Frey's creative power and creativity seem almost immeasurable. No wonder, because her childhood in the Circus Theater Federlos literally put performing in her cradle. As part of the Moods Carte Blanche, Anna Frey is now presenting three concert evenings at three different venues: Moods, Helsinki Klub and Kunstraum Walcheturm.

"The venues are united by a musical openness," Anna Frey remarks as we talk about her Carte Blanche series. This musical openness is particularly reflected in her self-curated concert programmes, which combine improvisation, pop, rap and experimental music, reaching across the boundaries of music in an interdisciplinary way by incorporating film and video installations.She designed the programme on the one hand because of her own interest as a listener and curator (Who has she wanted to invite and hear for a long time?) and on the other hand because of her musical interest as a musician (With whom would she like to perform? Where could exciting symbioses arise?).

To kick off the series, the improvised guitar sounds of Flo Stoffner and Anna Frey's Spoken Word meet Frantz Loriot and Nicola Romanó, who complete the duo to form a quartet.

Anna Frey has a very special relationship with the Helsinki Klub: she celebrated her first record launch there when she was just 18 years old and has done so seven more times to date.In this tradition, Anna's latest record "Wenig" by her band Anna & Stoffner will be christened together with Vincent Membrez and Lukas Mantel at the Helsinki on 12 October.Would you like a little amuse bouche? The first single "Sistema Solare" from the new record was released on 21 September 2023. The full album will be released on 6 October 2023.

The third evening is all about improvisation and unconventional sounds from Violeta Garía's prepared cello or Camille Émaille's drums, gongs and cymbals.Listening from eardrum to eardrum.It will be three exciting evenings with unique constellations that are tailor-made for their venues. "I'm excited for audiences to hear things they don't normally hear and in places they may never have been."
