Since 2014, trumpeter Thomas Gansch has been one of our regular guests and this season is no exception. In 1958, one year after the album «Miles Ahead», featuring Miles Davis and Gil Evans, was recorded, «New Bottle, Old Wine», a solo program tailored for alto-saxophonist Cannonball Adderley was released. In it, Gil Evans reworked titles by jazz composers who were important to him, from W.C. Handy to Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. As with other makeovers, Gil Evans expanded the standard Big-Band line-up with a French horn and a tuba. Thomas Gansch says this album is his favourite Gil Evans production and will take on the saxophone part - on the trumpet, of course.
Musical Director: Martin Streule.
