Božo Vrećo is an artist who breathes Sevdah, experiences it in a lively way, reinterprets it and embodies it. With the unmistakable voice of a lyrical tenor, he presents an impressive melange of duality, freedom, courage and love. International media such as El Periódico and the New York Times praise him as an avant-garde artist with a global voice who has become a symbol of freedom in the Balkans. They describe his voice as a voice that touches souls and opens wounded hearts. His concerts are an emotional catharsis and the embodiment of love, where he enchants his listeners with the song of an angel. This year sees the release of his seventh studio album Sevdahology. His first documentary film Maldita, produced in Spain and directed by Kanaki Film, won the prestigious Goya Award for best documentary film at the festival. Božo Vrećo is currently working on a book and touring festivals in the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe and the Balkan region.

EMEL became known as the figurehead of the Jasmine Revolution and the revolutionary voice of young Tunisia; and her song &#x27;Kelmti Hourra&#x27; (&#x27;My word is free&#x27;) became an anthem of the movement. Now the singer is coming back with a new album, with the same evocative power and rallying lyrics, but in a new musical guise. Inspired by musicians such as Rosalía, Aya Nakamura and Charlie XCX, the result is a powerful and feminist album with influences from hyper-pop, hip-hop, electronica and reggaeton: &#x27;MRA&#x27; is a danceable, hard-hitting rebirth.

SOYUZ is a creative collective from Minsk, Belarus, that combines the rich sounds of classical Brazilian music with a modern, global perspective. ‘Force of the Wind’, the third album of the trio consisting of Alex Chumak, Mikita Arlou and Anton Nemahai, builds unexpected bridges between the Música Popular Brasileira of the 70s and today&#x27;s Belarus. With a mixture of Russian and Portuguese lyrics, cosy-warm sounds and jazzy-groovy beats, SOYUZ create emotional compositions and wonderful, nostalgic moments that transcend language.

Together, they are a duo that knows its roots, yet continues to discover and redefine new creative forms of expression.

Over the years, the Pilgrim Quintet, led by Zurich tenor saxophonist Christoph Irniger, has developed into one of the most exciting ensembles in the young European jazz scene. On the occasion of Dave Gisler&#x27;s Carte Blanche at Moods, the well-rehearsed band will be joined by the unique singer Yumi Ito, who is regarded as one of the most outstanding representatives of vocal improvisation. Their connection is storytelling, creating an all-encompassing sound that defies categorisation. Some compositions are freely improvised, others are fully notated, but most are somewhere in between, with a flexibility that reflects a life of freedom where informed choices are made spontaneously. The sound is correspondingly varied: an amalgam of all kinds of styles, small or large, bright or dark. An experience of feelings and images that Hannah Gottschalk translates live into sound-reactive visual performances characterised by abstraction and an interplay of artistic intention and improvisation.

Nicole Johänntgen&#x27;s Labyrinth is groovy, experimental, sometimes melancholic and here and there you can hear the flair of the Motown era of the 70s. After the successful and energetic evening in spring 2024, Johänntgen, Hansen and Stauffacher return to Moods - this time with the sequel - Labyrinth II. When the saxophonist creates music, she likes to look deep, reflect and feel life. While the unconventional line-up of saxophone, tuba (Jon Hansen) and percussion (David Stauffacher) offers unexpected new possibilities, Nicole Johänntgen remains true to her soulful, expressive and virtuoso playing, in which saxophone and vocals alternate in unexpected, artistic ways.

Mammal Hands

Sometimes meditative, sometimes cinematic, with rhythmic elements that evolve, complement each other and develop into a driving maelstrom: Mammal Hands play a driving fusion of jazz and electronica that never loses its accessibility despite its complexity. On the contrary, the trio&#x27;s energetic live performances can put you in an almost trance-like state. The band is now on the road with their fifth album &quot;Gift from the Trees&quot; (2023) - a must for all fans of Portico Quartet, Gogo Penguin or Grandbrothers.

The lower floor of the club is at ground level and accessible without steps. There is one accessible bathroom which can be used with a Eurokey. The bar is not accessible and is approximately 1.20 metres high.

MERCADONEGRO - They are probably the best salsa band in Europe and are going on tour in Switzerland with their new album SE ACABÓ EL CUENTO. Tromboranga stands for the raw power of salsa music from the 60s and 70s. One of the band&#x27;s trademarks is its three-piece trombone section. The instrument that strongly influenced salsa through Willie Colón or Jimmy Bosch and reflected life in New York&#x27;s El Barrio. Tromboranga play and arrange their music in this tradition, setting new accents and inviting you to dance. BCUC stands for Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness. Their music is made up of indigenous funk, hip-hop and punk energy. But instead of trying to classify and analyze the music, you should simply visit a live show: An absolute stunner! In recent years, BCUC has played with legends such as Femi Kuti and Saul Williams, fascinated audiences at the most important European festivals (Glastonbury, Roskilde, Womad, Fusion, Sziget and many more) and also won the prestigious Womex Artist Award. And should anyone still have any doubts as to whether it&#x27;s worth it: “without a doubt the best live act I saw” - Gilles Peterson “Loved their set, it was one of my highlights of a great weekend” - Nick Dewey, Glastonbury Festival “guaranteed to touch untapped corners of your soul” - Okayafrica “the most impressive newcomers this year” - The Guardian It all started in a shipping container in Soweto, South Africa, where the band members of BCUC met. The shipping container was converted into a community restaurant and stands next to the church where Desmond Tutu organized the escape of the most wanted anti-apartheid activists. This historical background is echoed in BCUC&#x27;s music: Their music is a hedonistic trance, but also as a weapon for political and spiritual liberation. If little more than a year passes before the ZJO invites a guest for a second time, the premiere must have been a complete success: In November 2022, British-Nigerian vocalist and songwriter Ola Onabulé performed with the ZJO for the first time. He is a virtuoso, self-effacing singer and a lyricist with today&#x27;s world in mind and history in the back of his mind. The topics of his songs hardly leave anything out, from basic human love of life to political content. In doing so, he refrains from stereotyping, which makes his work more elaborate, but his songs all the more authentic.

WITCH (We Intend To Cause Havoc)

WITCH (We Intend To Cause Havoc) were Zambia&#x27;s biggest rock band in the 1970s and were at the forefront of a new genre called zamrock. They fused influences ranging from the Rolling Stones to Black Sabbath to James Brown, and blended them with traditional African rhythms and songs. At the height of their popularity, the band often needed police to keep fans at bay while their lead singer Jagari - whose name is an Africanization of Mick Jagger&#x27;s name - roiled the crowd. As Zambia&#x27;s economy stagnated and the country suffered from the AIDS crisis, WITCH disbanded. Jagari, now the only surviving member of the original lineup, retreated to a life of quasi-anonymity as a university music professor before being wrongfully arrested in Zambia&#x27;s toughest hour. Now a man in his 60s, he spends his time mining gemstones. WITCH didn&#x27;t receive greater attention outside their home country until 2012, when Now Again Records reissued their entire discography. In 2016 Jagari began a collaboration with Dutch musicians Jacco Gardner and Nic Mauskoviç, and together with them WITCH is coming to Moods in November.

She is of Armenian origin, trained in Paris to be a classical pianist, and discovered her love for jazz in New York. Inspired by diverse musical worlds, Macha Gharibian has developed her very own style: on her newest album «Trans Extended» the songstress. pianist and composer blends oriental jazz with neo-classic and psychedelic pop. The Tiger Lillies «Cold Night in Soho»

The famous and notorious Tiger Lillies are back! And for all those that have always missed them, here is an attempt to describe them: weird, comedic-tragic style, costumes and masks, falsetto singing, instrumentation that includes accordion, drums, musical saw, piano, a mix of variety, cabaret, punk and gypsy music. The texts are not for those of conservative values: in macabre overtones they tackle themes such as drug addiction, blasphemy, prostitution, abortion, perverse sexual fantasies – wherever there is something objectionable, they provocatively contribute their two penn’orth. You simply have to experience them.

This year Bruno Spoerri is celebrating his 70th stage anniversary in Zurich - in 1954 he was awarded first prize at the Zurich Jazz Festival. The concert on November 12th will show two sides of his work; the first part with an acoustic jazz group, the second with technoid electronics. Piet Jan Blauw began his career as a visual artist, while also working as a percussionist. Early on he made objects and then began to build electronic instruments and art installations. Numerous installations and performances in Europe, the USA and Mexico followed. His performances are both auditory and visual experiences. Gabriel Schiltknecht is a percussionist with heart and soul. His musical career began with the formation SCHILDPATT. After training as a primary school teacher, he taught at the Swiss School in Accra/Ghana, played with important local musicians and acquired a wide-ranging knowledge of the drumming tradition.

He is a legend of the «Swinging Addis»: the singer, pianist and arranger Girma Bèyènè has significantly influenced the Golden Era of Ethiopian music. In the lively music scene of the 60&#x27;s and 70&#x27;s, African rhythms were mixed with R’n’B, Soul, Funk and Big Band Jazz. After a break of 25 years, Girma Bèyènè now celebrates his comeback with the Parisian band Akalé Wubé, which has committed itself to that style of music. Based on repetitive patterns and multidirectional rhythms, they create flowing soundscapes that captivate the audience. The focus is always on attentive listening, which turns the music into an abstract conversation. At Moods, they christened their debut album Is This Water, which was released on the renowned Finnish label We Jazz Records and co-produced by Dan Nicholls.

La Sonora Mazurén are the latest representatives of Bogotá&#x27;s lively alternative music scene. The seven musicians are influenced by traditional rhythms and sounds from Ecuador, Colombia and Peru and enrich them with synths and electric guitar. This is a first at the Moods Jazzclub. Nowruz, is the celebration of the arrival of spring and the new year according to ancient Persian calendars. Nowruz, meaning «new day», is an ancestral festivity marking the first day of spring and the renewal of nature. It includes rituals, ceremonies, and cultural events, as well as the enjoyment of a special meal with loved ones. New clothes are worn, visits are made to family and friends, and gifts, especially for children, are exchanged. Celebrated for over 3,000 years in the Balkans, the Black Sea Basin, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East, and other regions, it promotes values of peace and solidarity between generations and within families as well as reconciliation.The Persian trio Aban Ensemble with Mitra Behpoori (Tar, Oud, Vocals), Sara Hasti (Kamancheh, Vocals) and Nora Thiele (Percussion, Daf, Rahmentrommel and Tombak) from Germany and Collectif-Medz-Bazar from Paris will be with us. Look forward to a folk festival of Persian dastgah music and an evening where Armenian, Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic and Persian song traditions meet explosive rhythms and pop elements. Die langjährige und sehr fruchtbare Partnerschaft zwischen Thomas Gansch und dem Zurich Jazz Orchestra wird auch dieses Jahr fortgesetzt. Neben Repertoire aus der Vergangenheit wird es auch neue Arrangements geben, die von Ed Partyka speziell für dieses Konzert geschrieben wurden und die Thomas Gansch als Komponisten und Multi-Instrumental-Solisten, aber auch als liebenswürdiges ‹Enfant terrible› präsentieren. Sicher ist, dass die wunderbaren Musiker*innen des ZJO für einige musikalische Überraschungen sorgen werden. Sicher ist auch: Band und Publikum werden einen unvergesslichen Abend erleben.

Die 1981 als Tochter einer Schriftstellerin und eines Regisseurs in der albanischen Hauptstadt Tirana geborene Elina Duni stand im Alter von nur funf Jahren erstmals auf einer Bühne. Seit ihren ersten musikalischen Schritten in Radio und Fernsehen hat sich viel getan: Heute ist Elina Duni ECM-Künstlerin und seit 2017 Preisträgerin des Schweizer Musikpreises. In diesem ZKB Jazzpreis Special trifft der Oud-Virtuose Rabih Abou-Khalil auf das Elina Duni Trio mit Marc Méan und Matthieu Michel. Eine einmalige Konstellation, die wohl so einige goldene Momente mit sich bringen wird. Das Konzert fand im Rahmen des ZKB Jazzpreis statt.

Joseph Bowie’s Big Band Funk - The Legendary Music of Defunkt

Joseph Bowie ist der Bruder des Big-Band-Musikers Byron Bowie und des Mitbegründers des Art Ensemble of Chicago, Lester Bowie. Joe selbst gründete 1978 die Punk-Funk-Jazz-Gruppe «Defunkt». Die Band veröffentlichte in den 1980er Jahren mehrere genreübergreifende Alben, und ihre Musik wurde als «einer der abenteuerlichsten Sounds des letzten Viertels des 20 Jahrhunderts» bezeichnet. In den letzten 20 Jahren hat Joe Bowie auch daran gearbeitet, diese Musik für Big Band zu adaptieren. Einer der Arrangeure, mit denen Joe seit 2011 zusammenarbeitet, ist Ed Partyka. Das ZJO freut sich auf einen energiegeladenen Abend mit tanzbaren Hits aus der langen Geschichte von «Defunkt».

Letztes Jahr feierte das Orchestra Baobab, eine der grössten Bands Afrikas, ihr 50-jähriges Bestehen. Ihre Geschichte beginnt im Herzen der Medina von Dakar im Senegal der späten 1960er Jahren und erstreckt sich über die ganze Welt und bis ins 21. Jahrhundert. Die Gruppe aus Sängern und Musikern vom ganzen Kontinent spielen eine Mischung aus afro-und lateinamerikanischen Stilen, internationalem Pop und traditioneller Griot-Musik. Nach dem ausverkauften Konzert vom letzten Jahr kehrt die Band diesen August zurück ins Moods. Vor und nach dem Konzert werden die beiden DJs Afreekaya &amp; Voilà Tim auflegen.

Welch ein Glück: Frau Schmidhauser ersteht eine Gitarre, findet jedoch nicht genug Zeit, um zu üben. Also übereignet sie das Instrument ihren Buben. Beat und Jürg machen nicht lange Federlesens und rocken los. Einige Zeit danach spielt Beat, inzwischen zum Schmidi gereift, mit 14 Jahren seinen ersten Gig. Heute, rund 1500 Konzerte und 46 Jährchen später, beglückt uns Schmidi zum letzten Mal live, denn – und zu unserem Bedauern – «es ist genug des Guten.» Er will sich fortan Dingen widmen, die in all den Jahren zu kurz gekommen sind und somit zwar nicht kürzertreten, aber breiter wirken. Unbeschreibliches hat Schmidi auf tausendundeiner Bühne erlebt, unterwegs mit «Stop the Shoppers», «HOT DC», «Los Hobos», «Chica Torpedo», «Traktorkestar», «Oso loco», mit Polo, Kuno, Endo, Büne, Sina, Lo &amp; Leduc – und immer wieder mit Jürg/Jiri, dem geliebten Brüetsch. Also dann: Bühne frei! Vor unseren Augen und Ohren schaltet Schmidi seinen Modus um: vom Künstlerleben zum Lebenskünstler.

Ein Jahr nachdem ihr fünftes Studioalbum Album «Longing Fever» den ‹Indie Suisse Album Of The Year Award› abgeräumt hat, ist Evelinn Trouble mit ihrer Band wieder auf Tour. Evelinn Trouble, bekannt für ihre kreative Rastlosigkeit, ihre virtuose Stimme und ihr eigenwilliges Songwriting hat ihrer Diskografie mit «Longing Fever» ein aufregendes Pop-Werk hinzugefügt – ein Bruch mit ihrer Psychedelic-Ära und trotzdem unverkennbar Trouble. Ein spannendes Album, das Höhen und Tiefen mit Inbrunst durchläuft und von beatlesken Liebesliedern zu euphorischen Melodien reicht, die von verzerrtem Hip-Hop getragen werden. Unerwartet gesellen sich neu Klänge von Streichinstrumenten zum sonst dunklen Klanguniversum der Zürcher Sängerin: Ein Streichtrio erweitert die Band zum «Evelinn Trouble Orchestra». Diese Konzertaufnahme entstand mit Unterstützung des Migros-Kulturprozent.

Yarima Blanco ist eine herausragende Tres-Cubano-Spielerin und eine der wenigen ausserhalb Kubas, die dieses einzigartige dreisaitige Instrument beherrschen. Mit ihrem eigenen Septett Son Latino verbindet sie verschiedene kubanische Stile mit lateinamerikanischen Einflüssen. Ihre mitreissenden Auftritte zeigen nicht nur ihre beeindruckende Technik auf der Tres, sondern auch ihre starke Stimme und ihr Charisma. Blanco perfektionierte ihr Können während eines mehrjährigen Studiums in Kuba und avancierte schnell zu einer gefragten Künstlerin, die auch mit dem Orchester ANACAONA in der internationalen Jazzszene für Aufsehen sorgte. Pancho Amat, internationaler Meister des Tres Cubanos, beschreibt Blancos Talent als aussergewöhnlich.

Aus ihrer Heimatstadt London heraus erobert die Sängerin Summer Pearl zur Zeit die Musikwelt im Sturm. Ihr Sound aus Jazz, Soul, Hip-Hop und Dub, der an diejenigen der grossen Eryka Badu erinnert, ist mächtig und zugleich berührend. Summer Pearl beschreibt ihn als «eine Meditation über meine Vergangenheit und eine Reflexion über unsere Gegenwart. Die in der DR Kongo Kinshasa geborene und in der Schweiz aufgewachsene Sängerin und Multi-Instrumentalistin hat in den letzten zehn Jahren ihren eigenen, hausgemachten Stil zwischen Afro, Neo Soul und Trip Hop entwickelt. Eine unvergessliche Stimme trifft auf kongolesische Perkussionsfreude und überraschende Flöteneinlagen und setzt Kräfte frei, bei denen der Optimismus zurückkehrt und das Tanzen unausweichlich wird. Ein Sound, der ein neues Gefühl der Zusammengehörigkeit schafft und das Versprechen, dass alles gut werden wird. Alina Amuri verbindet in ihrer Musik Einflüsse aus Lauryn Hill, Nina Simone und Alicia Keys mit einem frischen, lebendigen Twist. Alina wurde schon für SRF 3 Best Talent ausgewählt, war schon für den wichtigsten Schweizer Musikpreis nominiert (Swiss Music Awards) und gewann mit ihrem letzten Album (Chasing Traces) den Swiss Live Talent Award. An diesem Konzert wird Alina Amuri ihr nächstes Studioalbum «Back To You» vorstellen. Es ist die bisher persönlichste Platte und erzählt von ihrer Reise zurück in ihre Geburtsstadt Kinshasa, zurück zu ihren familiären Wurzeln.

OORT CLOUD concentrates on the expansion of the classical guitar trio sound and discover new, unconventional ways of interaction, composition and improvisation. The instrumentation loses its typical role models through the experimentation with preparations, electronic effects, playing techniques, together with sophisticated concepts for composotion and improvisation. The concert took place as part of the ZKB Jazz Prize.

With A Shake Stew, Austria&#x27;s Jazz band of the hour, much is extraordinary. Starting with the line-up: two drummers, two bass players, two saxophones, a trumpet. Quasi two trios plus one. Their comet-like ascendance is also without parallel: a sold-out debut album, a closely-watched collaboration with Shabaka Hutchings and performances at all the renowned Jazz festivals from Frankfurt to Montreal, from Istanbul to Mexico, speak for themselves. And then there&#x27;s that sound: driving rhythms, the horns sometimes blaring, sometimes virtuoso, sometimes melodious, borrowings from Afrobeats, Funk and Swing. Music that reveals a hypnotic spell, one wants to soak up every note, to dance, to shake oneself and hope that it will never stop.

Raphael Jost&#x27;s band brings out all these wonderful Christmas classics and spices them up with their own arrangements. Accompanied by a glass of red wine and of course lots of peanuts. Hommage an Sarah Vaughan: «The Divine One»

In 2024 we will celebrate the centenary of the birth of Sarah Vaughan, one of the greatest jazz singers in history. Her career spanned almost five decades and she performed with a wide range of top jazz musicians and big bands. She won two Grammy Awards and was nominated for nine. In 1989 she was named an NEA Jazz Master and critic Scott Yanow wrote that she was &#x27;...one of the most wondrous voices of the 20th century&#x27;. Sarah Vaughan began her professional career in the early 1940s as a singer in the big bands of Earl Hines and Billy Eckstine, where she met and sang with such jazz innovators as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. For most of her highly successful career she played in small jazz groups, but she returned to big bands on several occasions and in 1954 began a fruitful artistic partnership with Count Basie that lasted for decades. The last album Sarah Vaughan recorded with the Count Basie Orchestra was &#x27;Send In The Clowns&#x27; in 1981, and Sandy Patton has preserved the Count Basie Orchestra&#x27;s original arrangements, which she has generously shared with the Zurich Jazz Orchestra. These original arrangements will form the core of the programme, and we will play some classic Count Basie instrumentals to complement the wonderfully swinging vocal charts. As always, the great ensemble playing and excellent soloists of the Zurich Jazz Orchestra will be featured.

The cross-genre project Kyoto Jazz Massive, founded by the Okino brothers and discovered by Gilles Peterson, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with new album release and a refreshed line-up. Under the direction of Shuya Okino, with Vanessa Freeman on lead vocals, KJM will be supported by the powerful Echoes Of A New Dawn Orchestra, showcasing their unique crossover vision from jazz-funk, broken beat, and soulful house to cosmic grooves and everything in between! After a highly energetic night in late December 2023, they are back to rock Zurich out of its socks.

RUTHER LANA &amp; MISS C-LINE is a trio from Switzerland, formed by drummer Jonas Ruther with MISS C-LINE rap, vocals and FX, François Lana on synthesiser and sampler. With influences from modern rap and beat culture, combined with collective improvisation and complex psychedelic sound structures, the three strong personalities create a very intense musical experience on stage. For his Carte Blanche, Ruther invites the Senegalese rapper Gaston Bandimic, who raps in Wolof and ignites an impressive rhythmic fire live.

Camilla George

Camilla George is a visionary saxophonist, composer, bandleader and innovator. Her strong cultural roots and love of fusing African and Western Music has informed her own unique style, a key reason why she is a firm fixture on the new London Jazz scene, alongside peers such as Nubya Garcia and Shabaka Hutchings. Her music is a hypnotising blend of Afrofuturism, hip hop and jazz, with a politically minded subtext that has a powerful connection to her Nigerian identity, lineage and heritage, reflecting African history, culture and slavery. Her most recent album, ‘Ibio Ibio’, is a tribute to her tribe the Ibibio people of South Eastern Coastal Nigeria. The album features an incredible lineup, including Daniel Casimir, Sarah Tandy, Winton Clifford, Renato Paris, Sheila Maurice-Grey, Rosie Turton, Shirley Tetteh, hip hop drummer, Daru Jones, Birmingham based rapper, Lady Sanity and Sam Jones. Recent notable performances include North Sea Jazz Festival, where Camilla performed with both her own group and as a featured artist in the ‘Diaspora Suite’ performance; Jazz a Vienne, where Camilla also sat in for a guest spot with Marcus Miller; EFG London Jazz Festival, Jazz In The Park Romania, Brosella and Jazz Onze Lausanne. This concert recording was made with the support of Migros Culture Percentage.

Dave Taylor has been the world&#x27;s most influential bass trombonist since he emerged on the New York music scene in the late 1960s. His unmistakable bass trombone sound can be heard on hundreds of albums, including recordings by Duke Ellington, The Rolling Stones, Barbara Streisand, Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Wynton Marsalis, Blood Sweat &amp; Tears, Tina Turner, Gil Evans, Bob Mintzer Big Band and the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra. Dave has also performed worldwide as a soloist with major symphony orchestras and encourages composers to write new and challenging music for the bass trombone. One musician who has a long and close artistic partnership with Dave is the Swiss composer and saxophonist Daniel Schynder, who will contribute a set for this concert and also perform as a soloist. For the conductor of the Zurich Jazz Orchestra, Ed Partyka, this project fulfills a long-cherished wish: Dave Taylor has been an idol of mine since I met him in the 1980s when he played with the George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band (still one of the most impressive live concerts I&#x27;ve ever heard!). I&#x27;m thrilled that we can finally realize this dream with the Zurich Jazz Orchestra. The second set will be newly composed by Ed Partyka and arranged for Dave Taylor and the Zurich Jazz Orchestra.

Inspired by soul icons such as Billie Holiday, Etta James and Nina Simone, the Canadian with Haitian roots tells of the wellspring of her soul and holds the audience with her voice in a soothing sonic embrace.

Piano legend Chuco Valdez on Yilian Cañizares: «Yilian is an incredible talent of the new generation of Cuban musicians. She is also a virtuoso, expressive, spontaneous and with a charm that captures everyone.»  She studied classical violin in her homeland of Cuba and later in Venezuela, then came to Switzerland at the turn of the century in order to focus on jazz and her voice. From these elements she has created her very own sound universe between tradition and modern, lyrics and Afro-Cuban rhythms.
