These two US artists are something of a beacon in the hip-hop world. Their influence is felt far and wide, and they are hugely influential in the genre. Let&#x27;s start with Riggins, who also has an impressive career in jazz. For example, the drummer produced the rapper Common back in the &#x27;90s and has worked with renowned artists such as Erykah Badu, The Roots, J, Dilla,, Talib Kweli, Kaytranada and Madlib. He is also part of the Emmy Award-winning supergroup August Greene, alongside Common and Robert Glasper. J. Rocc is a turntable legend, one of the first DJs to play hip-hop in Southern California and the founder of the Beat Junkies. He also DJs for Madlib and was a member of Jaylib. The collaborative music of Karriem Riggins and J. Rocc sounds a bit like a classic beat tape, but is so much more. They span narratives across tracks and entire albums, giving the whole thing the character of a suite. Together, these two luminaries will guide the Moods ship safely through a stormy evening, navigating surging drum rolls, breaking beats and lightning-fast cuts. This concert will be standing.

Lamborghini Tarot, the alter ego of Swiss rapper, actress and clown Martina Momo Kunz, and Belinda, the alter ego of French sousaphonist, rapper and producer Victor Hege, blend their unusual skills into a crazy, hyperactive, theatrical musical journey, where complex arrangements and beautiful melodies are destroyed by primitive beats and absurd lyrics. Originally born during a joint Corona Christmas quarantine in a theatre in Zurich, the duo brings their joie de vivre to the stage - through wild twerk, tutuutututu sousaphone and awesome rap.

Here, structures are broken up and boundaries are explored! London-based pianist and singer Ashley Henry mixes jazz with neo-soul, hip-hop and R&#x27;n&#x27;B in his compositions. The result is a groovy sound that offers room for breakbeats as well as Henry&#x27;s lyrical and playful piano solos. In a short space of time, Ashley Henry has developed from a newcomer to an important voice in the British jazz scene.

jazzhane & Moods present

EMEL became known as the figurehead of the Jasmine Revolution and the revolutionary voice of young Tunisia; and her song &#x27;Kelmti Hourra&#x27; (&#x27;My word is free&#x27;) became an anthem of the movement. Now the singer is coming back with a new album, with the same evocative power and rallying lyrics, but in a new musical guise. Inspired by musicians such as Rosalía, Aya Nakamura and Charlie XCX, the result is a powerful and feminist album with influences from hyper-pop, hip-hop, electronica and reggaeton: &#x27;MRA&#x27; is a danceable, hard-hitting rebirth. This concert recording was made with the support of Migros Culture Percentage.

RUTHER LANA &amp; MISS C-LINE is a trio from Switzerland, formed by drummer Jonas Ruther with MISS C-LINE rap, vocals and FX, François Lana on synthesiser and sampler. With influences from modern rap and beat culture, combined with collective improvisation and complex psychedelic sound structures, the three strong personalities create a very intense musical experience on stage. For his Carte Blanche, Ruther invites the Senegalese rapper Gaston Bandimic, who raps in Wolof and ignites an impressive rhythmic fire live.

The band Anna &amp; Stoffner with Membrez and Mantel captivates with a highly energetic interplay of virtuoso musicians and urgent, unsparing lyrics. Rapper Anna Frey and guitarist Flo Stoffner, with Vincent Membrez on synthesizers and Lukas Mantel on drums, develop an intensity that is hard to resist. «Less than little is nothing, but little is more than nothing, little makes a difference.» This band is not afraid of the void and does not cover it up, but faces it, follows it and thus develops its own language, with driving grooves, poppy melodies, free improvisation, idiosyncratic guitars and dark, engaging basses. Rapper Anna Frey moves over this musical diversity with her poetic lyrics. Sometimes in singsong, sometimes in harsh phrasing. Always in search of the immediate expression.

Adi Oasis

Hailing from the French Caribbean and living in Brooklyn, Adi Oasis is currently taking the music world by storm. Since launching her solo career in 2018, she has performed with Anderson .Paak, Gregory Porter, JUNGLE, Masego, Thundercat, appeared at festivals such as the Newport Jazz Fest, Love Supreme or Montreux Jazz Festival and the stream of rave reviews just won&#x27;t dry up. On her debut album &quot;Lotus Glow&quot;, released in 2023, Adi Oasis combines her retro-futuristic signature sound, her soaring voice and her spectacular bass playing to create a very personal and political work that particularly reflects the reality of her life as a Black female immigrant in America. &quot;Lotus Glow represents the flower I&#x27;ve blossomed into, the artist I&#x27;ve worked on becoming all my life. The glow is where I am going next. It&#x27;s my destiny.&quot;

MISS C-LINE & The Rabidz

MISS C-LINE is an up-and-coming neo-soul singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Bern/Basel. Her music blends soul and groove with elements of hip-hop and jazz to create a unique and memorable style. Inspired by greats such as Erykah Badu, The Roots and Robert Glasper, MISS C-LINE writes and produces all her songs herself. This earned her a nomination for the Kick Ass Award in 2019, three appearances at the SRF Bounce Cypher, her debut album Surreal was included in international playlists and in 2021 she won the New Generation Jazz Lab Contest. This concert recording was made with the support of Migros Culture Percentage.

Leenalchi

Leenalchi shows us how experimental and avant-garde the K-pop scene can be. The band from Seoul has dedicated itself to reinterpreting the Korean storytelling genre Pansori, which is characterized by a special performance style with vocals and percussion. The band sings verses of traditional Korean fairy tales and draws musical inspiration from alt-rock and eighties new wave. By dissecting and rearranging traditional elements, the result is music that is forward-looking, but at the same time strongly rooted in tradition. In Korea itself, the band has long been established, filling concert halls, winning various Korean Music Awards, and appearing in a Netflix production. Leenalchi gained international attention in 2020 with their song Tiger Is Coming and subsequently thrilled audiences at renowned festivals including Roskilde, Pohoda, Womad, Fusion and the FMM Festival.

Summer Pearl

From her hometown of London, singer Summer Pearl is currently taking the music world by storm. Her sound of jazz, soul, hip-hop and dub, is reminiscent of the one of the great Erykah Badu, both powerful and touching at the same time. Summer Pearl herself describes it as &quot;a meditation on my past and a reflection of our present. It is both a personal and political message exploring black and female liberation and love gained and love lost.&quot;

Nine years have elapsed since Tommy Vercetti&#x27;s fulminant debut «Seiltänzer» (tightrope walker), which many consider to be the milestone of Swiss Rap and has had an effect way beyond the musical borders- not least being awarded the Berner Literaturpreis.  Nobody combines Rap, Literature, Musicality and Zeitgeist like he does. The album produced by Pablo Nouvelle poses the key question as to whether music can still play a freeing role in society. Or to be more specific: if you challenge these dark times and the associated cynical or removed-from-reality pop culture, to what extent can one paint an optimistic picture of the future? They describe their style as «Gospel Porn» and otherwise simply bristle with self-irony and satire: the two enfants terribles are known as Wanlov The Kubolor and Rapper MC M3nsa Ansah, and they stir up the music scene of Ghana with their trippy sound. The Fokn Bois use groovy Hip-Hop, Dub and Afro-Techno as the foundation for their ingenious and bawdy texts in Afro-English slang. Their high-energy concerts, where they will be accompanied by keyboarder Andras Weil, remind us of unusual art performances. She is considered as one of Switzerland’s most promising voices: Naomi Lareine, known for her smooth, precise voice. Thanks to tracks such as «Issa Vibe» and «Get It», she rapidly advanced from an insider tip to newcomer, played several big festivals in Switzerland, appeared on radio and TV, and was nominated as «SRF 3 Best Talent» and «Best Breaking Act» at the Lyrics Magazine Awards. Her current EP «Unchained» is a perfect example of how R&amp;B can and should sound today. We Stream! Under the motto of «We Stream!» Moods makes available its infrastructure for two or three-day residences, in order to provide musicians with sufficient space and time to develop exciting streams. For this edition a small audience can be welcomed.
