With her folk band Mestisay, Olga Cerpa is one of the most famous voices of the traditional Atlantic sounds of the Canary Islands. The singer, who has twice been nominated for a Latin Grammy, has already shared the stage with Cuban singer Omara Portuondo, Spanish singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat, Portuguese singer Julio Pereira and Galician folk band Milladoiro.
And this is also the sound of their own songs, in which the musical influences of their neighbors from the Atlantic archipelago merge: the timple guitar, unique to the Canary Islands, the melancholy fado of the Portuguese, the nearby African coast, but also fiery bolero from Cuba and fast rhythm guitars from Spain are transformed into a single subtropical firework.
